The City of Swan stretches from the river suburbs around Midland, its council seat, out to the semi-rural areas of the Swan Valley and beyond. Local areas include Midland, Guildford, Caversham, Ellenbrook, The Vines, Henley Brook, Upper Swan, Herne Hill, Bullsbrook, Gidgegannup, Red Hill and Baskerville.

Life in the City of Swan
Guildford was founded with the Swan River Colony in 1829, and James Street still has its heritage buildings, antique shops and cafes. Beyond it is the Swan Valley, WA’s oldest wine region and around 25 minutes from the city. It has wineries, breweries, distilleries, farm gate stalls and weekend markets.
Whiteman Park, with Caversham Wildlife Park and the Motor Museum of WA, is popular with families. Bells Rapids and Walyunga National Park follow the river up through Upper Swan. In the hills, Gidgegannup offers country living with bush walks, Noble Falls, spring wildflowers and the annual Gidgegannup Show. Midland, the council seat, has the shops, the hospital and the train line.
